When Death Leaves You Discouraged
Today I am saddened by the deaths of a teacher and a young senior from my high school. It seems like every few days there is a new death of someone that I used to know or a friend’s loved one passes away. I am hurting for the family members of these people, but I am also thankful that I know if I were to die today, I would be with my Lord and Savior. You are not guaranteed tomorrow, so don’t wait one more second to accept Him.
Because of sin, everyone is condemned to hell. Most people like to believe that everyone goes to heaven when they die, but that is sadly not the case. We have all sinned and because God is holy, we are unable to reach Him because we are unholy people. After salvation thankfully, we are able to have a relationship with God because we are seen by God as holy.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
– Romans 3:23
I hear all of the time how people want to “live” their lives first before giving their lives to God, but they are not truly living. They are dead in sin. There are a lot of people who know there is a God, but they would rather live their lives the way they want, so they ignore Him. There is no way these people are truly happy because they are dead in their sin. Thankfully though, Jesus died on the cross and took away our sins so that we can live forever with Him and find true happiness!
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
– Ephesians 2:4,5
Many people think that if they are good people they will go to heaven, but this is not the case. I have been to many funerals where they say, “He no longer has to suffer. He is with Jesus today because he was a good man” (or something along those lines). Good works happen AFTER salvation as a way to show others that you have Christ! The only way to get to heaven is through Christ Jesus, not if you help an old lady cross the street.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
– John 14:6
If you are going through a loss right now, realize that God loves you. He even loves you so much that He sent His beloved Son to die for you. He loves you even though you are a sinner. “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom. 5:8)”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
– John 3:16
So don’t wait until tomorrow to ask God to forgive you of your sins. You may not be here tomorrow! Give your life to God and truly live today! You could have sinned 234,094,630,823 times in your life, but if you have accepted Jesus as your savior, when you die, God counts your sin as zero. To Him, you have no sin because Jesus paid it all.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
– Romans 8:1
I am truly sorry for those of you who are going through a loss right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I truly hope you can be encouraged by this post and realize that God loves you and will be with you always if you let Him save you.
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
– Romans 1-:9-10
